AI-based application for a healthcare micro-degree
The goal was to develop an AI assistant that helps analyse the user's concern or the patient's need and, based on that, provide suitable health and wellbeing technology recommendations.
The project's design process was divided into concrete stages, with the aim of creating the AI assistant Abikäpp
Work began with the user interface, for which we received the desired user journey from the client. First we sketched out the application's main outlines, then we built up the design system, and on that basis the prototype pages were produced. In the design we paid particular attention to meeting the requirements of the WCAG 2.1 accessibility standard. We carefully monitored colour contrasts, font sizes and navigation logic to ensure the application's usability for all target groups.
Modern technology choices
Abikäpp's core is an AI recommendation engine: the user describes their condition in their own words, Claude's model matches it with the assistive devices in the product catalogue and justifies the choice. Prompts, catalogue and query limits reside in the admin panel. Security comes first: Cloudflare Turnstile, Redis-based rate limiting, server-side rendering (App Router + RSC), all content in Estonian and English. The user generates a PDF export of the results on the client side, without the analysis having to run through the server again.
